The Barra zone is home to the Rio Olympic Park, Maria Lenk Aquatic Center, Olympic Aquatics Stadium, and the Olympic Village.

The Maracana Stadium was built for the 1950 World Cup and is one of the main tourist attractions in Rio de Janeiro. It will host the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2016 Olympics Games.

Deodoro Zone :
Located in western Rio de Janeiro, the Deodoro zone has several venues where the games will take place. The zone will also host other competitions, including modern pentathlon, shooting, equestrian, cycling and fencing.

Other than Rio de Janeiro, games would also take place at five venues in the cities of São Paulo, Belo Horizonte, Salvador, Brasília, and Manaus.
